Safe Standing Bill.

"Don Foster MP, former Liberal Democrats sports spokesman, has launched a bid to allow safe standing to be introduced into football grounds in England and Wales. Speaking yesterday the Bath MP launched his Safe Standing Bill by telling Parliament that there was no evidence to show that properly designed standing areas were inherently unsafe."

The above statment was taken from - http://www.fsf.org.uk/news/Safe-Standing-Bill-launched-in-Parliament.php

What does this mean? If it gets through it means groups off friends can sit together and get a better atmosphere at there home games, It may also inject a bit off passion that is needed in the game, No. Not the sort where you go and clean out the club shop,Get your favourite player on your back and look like a advertisement. A atmosphere what can get the players motivated in them moments where the fans really are the 12th man, Shirters and dressers alike all on the same terrace.

Will this Bill actually come though parliament? If Don Foster can prove to the members of Parliament that standing at football is actually safe and we follow the way the Germans do it, Then it can be done.

What will go against it? - Hillsbrough, That tragedy that happened where 96 people lost there lives (R.I.P) What this bill is saying is, Don't bring back the terraces where people are packed like sardines, The system they are proposing is the same as the German league, Terraces with fold down seats, So people can choose if they want to sit or not.

I will be backing this bid and have sent a formal email off to the MP who represents Wigan in the House's of Commons asking her opinion on this bill and if not what are her reasons.
The proposed lay out off safe standing areas.

Wigan Athletic vs Manchester City FC

I have a good feeling about this one....Anyway Latics take on Manchester City at the DW Stadium, And with the good game put in against Sunderland I reckon the lads can go one better and get 3 points over Money Bags FC.

Manchester City travelled to Salzburg in the mid week so I wonder if that will affect there performance?

With Wigan Athletic finally coming together as a team I reckon that we could put in all the stops and do a fantastic performance.

Wigan Athletic and Manchester City's last 6 games record

Last 6 EPL Matches
Manchester City – D D W D W L
Wigan Athletic – L L W L L W

Based on that, I reckon most people with have us down to losing 2-0 However I reckon we could nick it and  if Franco Di Santo starts as could as he did on his début, We could be in for a fantastic game.

Franco Di Santo starts his latics career well

Rebbricks Verdict: 1-0 Wigan

Attendance - 20,000

And so it starts again...

The football season starts on Saturday for us, Wigan Athletic, Where we face Blackpool at home which is meant to be away.

Wigan play Blackpool, Where it will be our 6th consecutive season in the premier league, Where as Blackpool will be making there first appearance  and there début game against us... I'm sure there will be loads of ill fitting orange shirts around town and also maybe the "Muckers" may make a appearance?

looking on the blackpoolfc website it looks like they have sold out there allocation as they watch Ian Holloways men take on Latics...Who have made a few strong additions to the squad who I hope will come into there own while at the club this season...

I will be missing the game due to being on holiday in Weymouth,However will be watching it in a pub if its on or on Sky News to keep me updated.

Come on Wigan, Time for the new football season,Jackets,Ale,Away days to begin for the 2010-2011 season!

Regionalisation

Since this thing of ours has come to life over the decades and has become a sub-culture for the working class football lads.

There was various regionalisation at the start when one set of "lads" got hold of a look one mob may have moved on. for instance the sportswear look to the scruff look? maybe even for the slight time that cycling tops where in?

I think that there is still slight regionalisation even in this modern age, Maybe not the the extent that it was in the early days, For instance down south there is still not a lot of Paul & Shark I am told, And I personally have not seen a lot of hackett.

I personally try and move things on and try and in my own way stay ahead try and find brands that I have not seen people wear at Latics and our lads.

Are things moving on in the right direction?

For the younger "lot" It seems that lads at the football are moving on from the stereotypical "Football lad/hooligan look" being decked out in Stone Island/Aquascutum, Fila etc ( since the release of Nick Loves remake of the firm) to moving onto more conventional and unique labels, Labels such as Albam, folk and Uniqlo to some extent, People looking for bargains has become more frequent since during the recession people don't have as much disposable income as they used to so trying to stand out from the crowd at a cheaper price is what people are trying to do, Well I am.

You will still get the odd fake stone island jumper wearing tracksuit cunt giving it the V's to the away fans and then going back to his 2L Cider when he gets back home and to the streets since he cant drink in the local pub.

There will always be people who follow, Not lead.
