Sub-Culture of the day

I'm a person just like you
But I've got better things to do
Than sit around and fuck my head
Hang out with the living dead
Snort white shit up my nose
Pass out at the shows
I don't even think about speed
That's something I just don't need

I've got the straight edge

A whole American subculture came to birth around them lyrics, Straight Edge is a culture where young Americans rebel in a way which is not the normal - They don't drink,Smoke or take drugs some even take it that step further by not having caffeine.
There music is hardcore punk - Aggressive music.

Some people see them as a pro-militant group with gang like tendencies however they are a underground culture, A movement.

Most people make the Straight Edge oath for life - They sustain from cigarettes, Alcohol,non-casual sex for life...They are dedicated to there "cause".

I found out about this lifestyle choice by one of my favourite bands - Rise Against who's songs I relate to and listen to daily.

They have a symbole, The "X" this came around when young american teens had a X written on there wrists to identify them as not being legal to drink, The sub-culture took this up and made it into there own, People get tattoos off it and wear clothing to identify themselves within the sub-culture, They promote a clean life, A positive one.
Drug Free tattoo, Symbolising the "positive outlook" of the culture.

The X symbol.

Wigan Athletic vs Manchester City FC

I have a good feeling about this one....Anyway Latics take on Manchester City at the DW Stadium, And with the good game put in against Sunderland I reckon the lads can go one better and get 3 points over Money Bags FC.

Manchester City travelled to Salzburg in the mid week so I wonder if that will affect there performance?

With Wigan Athletic finally coming together as a team I reckon that we could put in all the stops and do a fantastic performance.

Wigan Athletic and Manchester City's last 6 games record

Last 6 EPL Matches
Manchester City – D D W D W L
Wigan Athletic – L L W L L W

Based on that, I reckon most people with have us down to losing 2-0 However I reckon we could nick it and  if Franco Di Santo starts as could as he did on his début, We could be in for a fantastic game.

Franco Di Santo starts his latics career well

Rebbricks Verdict: 1-0 Wigan

Attendance - 20,000

Band Of The Day

Exit Calm

"Pure Genius - The Assembly of iron and wood because temples must be made. And the avoidance of all that whiny, Sexless bullshit passing for rebellion at the moment"

That is how Todd Eckhart - The producer of the Joy Division "Control"  would describe the Barnsley band Exit Calm.

With a crashing sound,Distorted guitars and vocals that are on the verge of raw talent, Very Verve like in there sound, and they have been compared to that band and as they have said they are an influence....

They have realised a self-titled album Exit Calm which was released on May 17th and when I discovered this band they have given me a breath of fresh air from the "indie" stuff that the lads in skinny jeans and pointy shoes and "out there" shirts from Top Man are into, Exit Calm's music is raw, Energetic and for here a breath of fresh air music wise and makes me excited to listen to music again.

The track listing for there début album is as follows and is available on Spotify.

Exit Calm – You've Got It All Wrong
Exit Calm – We're On Our Own
Exit Calm – When You Realise
Exit Calm – Hearts and Minds
Exit Calm – Don't Look Down
Exit Calm – Forgiveness
Exit Calm – Reference
Exit Calm – With Angels
Exit Calm – Atone
Exit Calm – Recovery
Exit Calm – Serenity

If you have Spotify you can click on the links and listen to there songs, If not you can download it here
The pick of the bunch for me is You've Got It All Wrong, Hearts and Minds, In fact scrape that statement, Here at Bricks HQ there whole album wants us to jump up and dance with a can of red stripe and sing at the top of our longs in a small little bar/hall covered in sweat and just being part of the music.
