The infamous northern soul club " Wigan Casino" opened in 1973 and would continue to seduce amphetamine tablet all nighter dancers till 1981 in which would become as ledegnary as Twisted Wheel and the northern soul clubs at the time.
Young people would flock to Wigan to listen to Northern Soul and do all nighters( they also did young person nights at the time which was popular with the local kids.)
The drug culture of taking speed would be ultimately be the downfall of the club, It got to a point where people where getting mugged etc.
Presure from the police and the local athoritys and also failing attendces made the club close in 1981.
The building which was the casino was burnt down a year after it closed, On the former site of the casino is the Grand Arcade which was built in 2009.
