Was there any point?

We played them bastards from the potteries last night, and I thought we played fantastic in the first half it was a completely diff rent team to what I saw at Notts County,Blackburn Rovers and we just built on what was a reasonable performance at the Stadium of Light.
We got stuck in we wanted the ball,We fought for it and eventually Sharner got a decent shot on goal and it was 1-0 up.
We defended and despite a few "oh shit" moments we did OK and I thought we came into the second half alright, However around 15-20 minutes before full time Stoke scored. And the away fans went "barmy" charging over acting big etc...anyway.

We just lost it something just seemed to be lost.
We had a decent shot that nearly went in towards the end and seemed to be a resurgence and one final push when the 4 minutes of extra time where added on.
I thought we played OK and did not deserve the boo's from the resident Muppet's of the east stand. It would take me a lot to boo my team and even after dire performances I did not boo, Why boo when you have paid the money to get in? Will these people be around when it gets tough like it used to? Judgement will be reserved.
It was the last game I could take in before flying out to Thailand ( tomorrow, Getting the pre-jolly feeling!) I will however be missing the big game of the season...Bolton at home.
Will be watching it in a bar drinking tiger beer and eating fresh Thai food but I would still prefer to be on the terraces even if I feel the game is going down hill and more rapid, However that is another post for another day.
I feel if we cant keep constant performances and also get 3 points in from the games where we can get the, We will have a relegation battle on our hands this season could be that season where we go down.

Gitman Bros.

Gitman Bros, Is an American clothes label which sell top of the range shirts and polo shirts, There prices seem to be a bit much however from what I have heard i hear they are the dogs bollocks and when I get a job sorted out from when I get back from Thailand I may treat myself to one, Anyway here are some pictures of there forthcoming spring 2010 season.

Inspired by the early eighties, the current fall 2009 shirt collection by New York’s vintage label
Gitman Village features slim fits, bright check patterns and luxurious looking flannel button-up shirts.

While having a look around there site you can get a "customised" shirt which i am tempted to get however at around 95 pounds for a shirt I will have to think about it and I do have some other stuff I would like to get.

Anyway its a brand that I would like to invest in the future and I don't think you will see many around...

Wigan Athletic vs Stoke City

Tomorow at the DW stadium Latics will be playing Stoke City FC, from the potteries.
Will get a more in-depth preview up tomorow, Aside from Bolton home/away, I would say this is one of the volitle fixtures for us, and that trouble could happen.

Enjoy the game will get a preview up tomorow pre-match.

Could this happen?...not in the modern "image" or "product" off football.

I cant condone what happens and i presume football is a better place with out it but its just not the same

"Last film.....sequeals"

Watched Lethal Weapon 2 last night on Sky Movies HD and was the first time i noticed the difference in quality..anyway I personally think that this film is better than the first one and stars Mel Gibson,Danny Glover and Joe Pesci from Goodfellas.
A action movie which ticks all the box's action...drama etc a watch that entertained me.

3.5/5

Watched Beverly Hills Cop 2 the other day also which i found funny and also quite full of action.
Staring Eddie Murphy follows on as Detective.Alex Foley where he trys to track down some armed smugglers involved in armed robbery's, A good watch.

4/5

The death of the British pub.

As we all know pubs are closing down at an alarming rate and people prefer to drink there cheap beer from the supermarket in the comfort of there own home, The sad thing is while people are doing this a British institution is dieing, The pub was once a place where the community came together, in my area of WN6 the local pub i frequent still has its regulars and is still quite busy but the other pubs in the area are dieing a grim death and are at times deathly quite.
There main factor in this is the recession that Britain is in at the moment but there has always been the pub to unwind and relax at the end of a shift...talk to your mates or go for a chat with your family.

The pub trade is dieing and if at the rate they are closing the great British establishment that we all know and love could be gone.

The Hesketh Arms on Shevington Moor has closed down and sadly they have put up a perimeter gate, there has been talks of knocking it down but there are local residents who are protesting due to the building being 250 years old itself.

This could be a more common site as the recession goes on...

real ale heads....

This looks of intrest to the real ale drinkers...Shall be sampling the chosen ones in the pubs that I haunt.

hello mrs....

the national cask ale week is 29th MARCH to 5th APRIL 2010

Sunderland vs Wigan Athletic

Latics go up to the Stadium of Light to face the mackems and also there former manager Steve Bruce who has apparantly been shopping at harrods while up there [ sic ]

We managed to scrap a 1-0 win against them when they played at the DW stadium early on in the season.
Melchiot is still out and kirkland is out with a collarbone injury still while there has been talks of it being MARTINEZ VS BRUCE etc...Martinez has tried to play it down by stating that its all about the players and points.

HEAD TO HEAD

SUNDERLAND: EPL: 1 DRAWS 1

LATICS: 5

LEAGUE: Sunderland: 3 Draws: 5 LATICS: 5

FA CUP: Sunderland: 0 Draws: 0 Latics: 1

so on that from i should be saying we should be heading towards a comfterble win but with latics and our current form i would say a 3-0 hammering is in store for us.

there is also a memorble incodent where a group of sunderland fans where "mud sliding" down the shevington end back at Springfield park..Will post a video up of when I get home i found it quite funny.

"Old Wigan" part 2...

Here is some more pictures of Wigan and the surounding area....

Haigh Hall...

Here is a picure of an old in on Market Palace and here is some infomation on it:

WE illustrate above one of the old inns of Wigan, "The Queen's Head," which
stood in the Market Place. It is one of the 68 Inns listed in "Whitehouse's
History of Wigan, 1829," and although perhaps not so famous as the old "Dog" Inn
(where Lord Derby slept the night after the Battle of Wigan Lane, 25th August,
1651), it is a typical example of the Inns of the period. These Inns were famous
for their hospitality as witness the following account of a "Visit of three
Gentlemen of Norwich." in 1634, which is quoted from "Travellers' Tales of
Wigan," by Rev. T. C. Porteus.

Not an old picture but one of the oldest pubs in the town, The John Bull Chophouse was built in the 1700's....

here is some infomation on it:

The pub is 4 old cottages knocked through and was a seafood shop, dating back to the 1700's and as such is an architectural curiosity, full of sloping floors and ceilings and old style brick work

Not seen anything like it in a long time...

Last night was a crocke of shite, we put out a 2nd rate team did not put out the players i think we should have done and when we did the damage was done, The fact that players did not have a fucking clue where others where for instance Emerson Boyce was in space down the left hand side for at least 20 minutes where no man was marking him all it took was a clean nice passed ball through and we could have had a good chance.
Credit where credit is due Notts County took there one chance ( the second goal was a own goal)and thanks to that they are through to the 5th round with a nice plum tie to fulham away.
I will still follow Martinez even if his form has dropped and there is warning sighns coming up for the team and our form is more or less non-consistant.

Keep the faith.

Will he still be around at the end of the season? even though Whelan said he will stick with Martinez even if we do get sent down I dont know if the chairmen can take the current run of form.....
